It’s a harbor town on the big lake, but it also sits right on the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and the Superior National Forest. Grand Marais visitors and locals alike enjoy some of the finest hiking, canoeing and skiing in the nation.
Despite the beauty of the country, it's the community that really makes the Grand Marais area special. Unique small businesses, a vibrant artistic community and a diverse group of people combine to make Grand Marais a place where you want to stay - for a week, a year, or a lifetime.

To support member businesses, economic growth and community events that are consistent with the character of the Grand Marais Area.
The Chamber of Commerce really does make a difference in the community.
Just a few things we do:
- Sponsor the Christmas Parade and 4th of July Parade
- Organize the 4th of July Fireworks
- Sponsor the Classic Car Show
- Offer scholarships and loans to be used by member businesses
- Maintain a website to promote the community and its businesses
- Procures event insurance for member businesses
